ZED STAPLE REINFORCEMENT STRIP, APPLIED AT THE STAPLE LINE
A staple line is only as strong as the tissue it holds. ZED — Zed-Stapleshield — adds a soft-tissue reinforcement layer along that line, so the seal holds where the tissue itself is thin, friable or under tension. It is made entirely of SIS (small intestinal submucosa), a bio-absorbable material the body remodels over time, leaving nothing permanent behind.
Its purpose is simple: reinforce the sutured area. In practice that means guarding against the three ways a staple line fails — air leakage, fluid leakage and fistula formation.
